Browar Rockmill Cold Rush
Cold Rush is a crystalline and vibrantly aromatic interpretation of an American IPA, emphasizing the crisp, clean finish characteristic of the modern Cold IPA style. A potent hop bouquet led by Mosaic and Simcoe delivers a complex fusion of blueberry, passion fruit, and forest pine. Chinook adds a layer of resinous spice and grapefruit, while Ekuanot contributes subtle melon and herbal depth. The lean, grainy malt backbone stays recessed, allowing the high bitterness to slice through the palate. It concludes with a bone-dry, refreshing snap, showcasing a bright hop profile against a neutral, lager-like fermentation background.
Appearance. Pale straw to light gold (6 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a tall, fluffy white head that demonstrates excellent retention and leaves thick lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Bright notes of pine resin and grapefruit zest from Chinook and Simcoe dominate initially, followed by tropical highlights of mango and berry from Mosaic. Ekuanot provides citrus-pith and herbal undertones. Low, clean, cracker-like malt; no fermentation esters.
Taste. Immediate punch of clean hop bitterness. Flavors of pine needle, blueberry, and tropical stone fruit mirror the aroma. The malt is minimalist and grainy, providing just enough structure. Bitterness is firm and assertive but lacks harshness. Finishes very dry and crisp with a lingering resinous and citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a brisk, scrubbing carbonation. Smooth texture with a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth. Refreshingly lean with no astringency.
