This massive Baltic Porter showcases the depth of a 27.5 Plato starting extract, resulting in a luxuriant sensory experience. Ten months of cold lagering have polished the intense malt profile into a velvet-smooth flow of dark chocolate, molasses, and toasted nuts. High-intensity aromas of prunes and raisins intermingle with a clean, vinous warmth reminiscent of fine Port. On the palate, a profound malty sweetness is masterfully balanced by a gentle roasted coffee bitterness, finishing with lingering notes of licorice and dried currants. It is a powerful, sophisticated expression of the style, emphasizing pure malt complexity and a deceptively smooth, warming finish.

Appearance. Dark, opaque chocolate brown with deep ruby highlights at the edges. It features a thick, persistent, creamy tan-colored head with excellent lacing.

Aroma. High intensity with a complex, clean fermentation profile. Dominated by rich maltiness featuring notes of dark chocolate, molasses, and deep toast. A significant ester profile suggests prunes, raisins, and cherries, with a notable vinous, Port-like quality. No hop aroma or sourness is present.

Taste. Initial impression is richly malty and sweet, featuring a complex blend of toffee, licorice, and toasted nuts. A smooth, roasted flavor reminiscent of coffee emerges in the mid-palate, stopping well short of burnt. Hop bitterness is medium-low, providing just enough balance for the massive extract. The finish is lingering and dryish, with dark fruit and cocoa notes persisting.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally smooth, offering a viscous and mouth-filling texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high, which lightens the impact on the tongue. A significant, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, providing a deceptive smoothness for its high strength.
