This Imperial Stout presents a masterful integration of dark, roasted depth and sophisticated vinous complexity. After ten months in red wine barrels, the base beer's intense bittersweet chocolate and espresso notes are elevated by nuanced layers of dark cherry, red grape, and subtle oak tannins. The aroma is heavy with roasted grain and dried fruits like raisins and plums, backed by a sophisticated vinous character. On the palate, the rich malt sweetness is balanced by firm bitterness and the drying influence of the barrel wood. It finishes with a harmonious blend of warming alcohol, lingering cocoa, and a touch of red wine acidity.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (SRM 40+). It features a thick, dense, dark tan head with moderate retention that leaves significant lacing and visible legs on the glass due to high viscosity.

Aroma. High intensity with a complex blend of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and black licorice. Strong esters of prune and black currant are enhanced by the red wine barrel, contributing notes of oak, vanilla, and dark red grapes. Alcohol is noticeable but smooth and well-integrated.

Taste. Initial impression is rich and multifaceted, led by bittersweet cocoa and deeply toasted bread. The mid-palate reveals prominent red wine influences, including tart cherry and grape skins, supported by a firm hop bitterness. The finish is moderately dry with a lingering roasted grain character and a pleasant, vinous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and velvety with a chewy, luscious texture. Carbonation is moderate-low, providing just enough lift to the heavy body. A gentle, smooth alcohol warmth is present throughout, without being sharp or solventy.
