Browar Kingpin’s Split Screen is a vibrant evolution of the American IPA, crafted as a Cold IPA to emphasize high-impact hop aromatics against a surgically clean backdrop. It offers the sensory intensity of a West Coast IPA with the drinkability of a pale lager. The aroma is a punchy display of citrus zest, resinous pine, and tropical fruit, supported by a minimalist, grainy malt base. On the palate, the beer is exceptionally crisp, delivering a firm bitterness and a bone-dry finish that allows the hop oils to linger without interference. It is a refreshing, hop-forward experience that prizes clarity and lean structure.
Appearance. Pours a brilliant, clear medium gold (6-8 SRM). It is topped by a persistent, medium-sized white head with fine bubbles and excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, resinous pine, and subtle tropical stone fruit. The malt character is very low and neutral, providing a clean, cracker-like foundation. Fermentation is exceptionally clean with no detectable esters.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impact of citrus peel and resin. The malt flavor is low, clean, and grainy, providing just enough support for the high bitterness. The bitterness is firm but clean and well-integrated. No significant fermentation esters are present. The finish is very dry and crisp, with a lingering, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is medium-high, contributing to the beer’s refreshing qualities. Very subtle, smooth alcohol warmth is present, though well-integrated. No astringency.
