Browar Gwarek Waiheke
Waiheke is an adventurous Wild Specialty Beer that fuses the lush, opaque texture of a Hazy Double IPA with a vibrant sour and salty profile. The aromatic profile is led by the distinctive white wine, crushed gooseberry, and tropical fruit notes of Nelson Sauvin hops, complemented by the multifaceted berry and grape character of Enigma. Real additions of gooseberry and white grapes intensify the vinous complexity, while a pinch of Polish rock salt sharpens the flavors. This bold creation balances 7% ABV warmth with a refreshing tartness and a mineral finish that highlights the unique New Zealand hop terroir.
Appearance. Deep straw to pale gold color. Opaque with a heavy haze. Thick, white, creamy head with moderate retention that may be slightly diminished by acidity.
Aroma. High intensity. Potent aromas of freshly crushed gooseberry and white wine skins from Nelson Sauvin are prominent. Enigma hops contribute notes of redcurrants and light tropical melon. A distinct lactic tartness is present, layered with fruity esters of green grape and a subtle mineral salinity.
Taste. Initial sharp tartness followed by a wave of vinous fruit. Intense flavors of tart gooseberry and sweet white grape dominate. Nelson Sauvin and Enigma provide layers of passionfruit and grape. Hop bitterness is very low, as structural balance is provided by acidity and salt. The finish is remarkably dry and crisp with a lingering mineral tang.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a soft, creamy texture. Moderate to high carbonation provides a lively prickle. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present at 7% ABV. Light salinity enhances the perception of body without adding weight.
