Black Griffin is a striking Specialty IPA that balances the robust, dark aesthetics of a porter with the vibrant hop intensity of an American IPA. At 7% ABV, it presents a complex interplay of piney, resinous, and citrusy hop characters against a backdrop of smooth, debittered roasted malts. Expect subtle notes of dark chocolate and toasted bread that complement rather than overwhelm the hop-forward profile. Appearance. Opaque black with deep mahogany highlights at the edges (approximately 35 SRM). Crowned by a persistent, creamy, light tan head that leaves moderate lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of grapefruit zest, resinous pine, and a hint of tropical berries. Supporting this is a very low malt presence of cold-brew coffee and unsweetened cocoa, with a clean fermentation profile devoid of heavy esters.

Taste. An immediate punch of citrus and pine hop flavors leads the way, followed by a restrained, smooth malt backbone of toast and light chocolate. Medium-high bitterness is prominent but not harsh.
