Sołtys presents a robust interpretation of a Bavarian Rye Ale, where the signature addition of rye malt creates a distinctively viscous, oily texture. The sensory profile is defined by a harmonious interplay between the spicy, peppery notes of the grain and the classic banana and clove characters derived from hefeweizen yeast. Deep amber and naturally hazy, it offers a rich malt backbone with hints of pumpernickel and caramel. This twenty-fifth anniversary brew balances its intensity with a creamy, high-carbonation finish, delivering a traditional experience that feels much fuller than its moderate strength suggests, leaving a lingering, spicy grain finish on the palate.

Appearance. Color is medium-amber to copper (12-18 SRM). It features a large, creamy, off-white head with excellent retention and thick lacing. Clarity is hazy, typical for a beer with high protein content and active yeast.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Strong spicy rye character reminiscent of pumpernickel bread. Prominent banana esters and spicy clove phenols from the hefeweizen yeast strain. Very low to no hop aroma. Subtle caramel malt sweetness is present in the background.

Taste. Initial impression is of rich, grainy-sweet malt followed immediately by spicy rye bread flavors. The yeast contribution is significant, providing clear banana and clove notes that complement the grain. Hop bitterness is low, ensuring a malt-forward balance. The finish is relatively dry with a lingering spicy, peppery rye aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Body is medium-full to full with a noticeable viscosity and oily slickness due to the rye malt. Carbonation is high, providing a bubbly, refreshing sensation that offsets the thickness. Low alcohol warmth with a smooth, creamy texture.
