This English Barley Wine presents a masterful fusion of rich British malt and sophisticated vinous complexity. Aromas of deep caramel, toasted bread, and toffee intertwine with a profound dark fruit profile of raisins and figs. The maturation in red wine barrels introduces layers of dark cherry, red grape, and a subtle oak tannin that balances the residual sweetness. With an 11.5% ABV, the palate is treated to a velvety, chewy texture and a comforting, spirit-forward warmth. The solera process imparts a nuanced, sherry-like depth, culminating in a luxurious, lingering finish of marmalade and soft oak.
Appearance. Deep mahogany with brilliant ruby highlights; clarity is exceptional. A thin, creamy, off-white head forms but dissipates quickly, leaving thick, viscous legs on the glass indicative of high alcohol and gravity.
Aroma. High intensity of rich caramel and dark toffee malts. Significant dark fruit esters reminiscent of plums, raisins, and dried figs are complemented by the vinous influence of red wine barrels. Low earthy and floral hop notes are buried under soft, rounded alcohol warmth and a touch of oak vanillin.
