Luminar is an intense Double IPA that captures the essence of modern hopping techniques. Pouring with a distinct haze characteristic of the contemporary style, it unleashes a powerful sensory profile dominated by tropical and citrus fruit notes. The elevated ABV of 8.4% provides a boosted structural backbone, supporting a saturated hop presence without veering into the cloying sweetness of a barleywine. This beer displays a vibrant interplay of resinous pine and stone fruit, leading into a clean, firm bitterness. It is a bold expression of the style, balancing a smooth, slightly creamy texture with a dry, hop-driven finish that lingers with persistent fruit character.
Appearance. Gold to deep orange (6–10 SRM). Opaque, hazy clarity. Moderate-sized, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High to intense hop aroma featuring prominent notes of mango, passion fruit, and citrus zest. Subtle resinous pine and floral undertones in the background. Low, clean, neutral grainy malt character. Minimal, well-integrated alcohol presence.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of grapefruit, pineapple, and melon. Moderately high bitterness that remains smooth and avoids harshness. Low, supportive, soft malt character provides a clean bready base. Finish is dry to medium-dry, characterized by a lingering hoppy and bitter aftertaste.
