Hypnos is a decadent Imperial Stout that commands attention with its massive 11.5% ABV and an indulgent salty caramel profile. The sensory experience is dominated by an intense interplay of dark-roasted grains, evoking bittersweet chocolate and espresso, layered over a luscious, confectionary sweetness. The addition of salt provides a sophisticated counterpoint to the rich caramel, sharpening the perception of cocoa while balancing the heavy malt backbone. Deep esters of dried plum and raisin emerge as the beer warms, leading into a long, velvety finish where smooth alcohol warmth and a lingering salinity create a complex, dessert-like harmony.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque in the glass. It supports a thick, creamy, deep tan head with moderate retention that leaves oily legs on the glass, indicative of its high alcohol content and significant viscosity.

Aroma. High intensity with dominant notes of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and burnt grain. A prominent sweet caramel aroma is evident, complemented by a subtle briny hint. Moderate esters of raisins and prunes are present, alongside a smooth, vinous alcohol character and very low earthy hop notes.

Taste. An intense explosion of bittersweet chocolate, heavy toast, and espresso. The caramel character is rich and forward, perfectly balanced by a distinct salinity that cuts through the sweetness. Medium-high bitterness provides necessary structure against the dense malt. The finish is long and warming, with an aftertaste of roasted grain and salted toffee.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally viscous with a thick, chewy, and velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant but smooth alcohol warmth is present, enhancing the richness without being sharp or solventy.
