This Black IPA delivers an old-school bitterness with a modern, complex hop profile. The inclusion of Citra and Mosaic hops provides a familiar base of tropical berry and citrus, while Zeus contributes a firm, resinous backbone. The unique Polish hop variety, Książęcy, introduces unexpected layers of creamy coconut and zesty blood orange. A substantial addition of rye malt elevates the sensory experience, providing a noticeably dense, silky mouthfeel and a delicate spicy undertone that balances the restrained, debittered chocolate notes of the dark malts. The result is a robust, clean-fermenting ale that remains remarkably drinkable despite its bold, dark character.

Appearance. Deep ebony to black in color (SRM 35-40). Pours with a persistent, creamy tan head that leaves thick lacing on the glass. Generally opaque, though clear when held to light at the edges.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, pine, and tropical fruit. Distinctive accents of coconut and blood orange are present. The malt profile is supportive and clean, offering subtle hints of toast and dark chocolate without any acrid or burnt character. A faint, spicy graininess from the rye is perceptible in the background.

Taste. The palate opens with a sharp, clean hop bitterness that remains the focal point. Flavors of resinous pine, citrus peel, and sweet tropical fruit dominate, followed by a secondary wave of creamy coconut. The malt provides a smooth foundation of light cocoa and toasted bread. Rye malt adds a characteristic spicy, peppery depth. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering hop bitterness and a touch of roasted grain, avoiding any harsh or ashy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a rounded, slightly viscous texture contributed by the rye malt. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle prickle on the tongue. Smooth and creamy throughout with a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
