Browar Amber Hoppy Bock reimagines the classic Doppelbock through a modern, agricultural lens. This full-bodied lager balances a deep, bready foundation of Munich malts with the bold, resinous character of estate-grown Chinook hops. Despite its substantial 18.1° blg gravity, the 7% alcohol remains impeccably integrated and smooth. The aroma leads with toasted bread and light caramel, quickly followed by unmistakable layers of pine and grapefruit zest. On the palate, a rich Maillard sweetness provides a velvety canvas for the firm, spicy bitterness of the hops. It concludes with a clean, lingering finish that honors traditional Polish brewing while embracing contemporary hop-forward intensity.
Appearance. Deep copper to reddish-brown in color (approximately 18–22 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a large, creamy, and persistent off-white head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Strong bready and toasty malt character with notable Maillard richness and light caramel. This is complemented by a moderate-to-high hop aroma of resinous pine and citrusy grapefruit derived from the Chinook addition. Very clean fermentation profile with negligible esters.
Taste. Initial impression is rich and malty-sweet. Flavors of toasted bread crust and light toffee dominate the mid-palate. The hop flavor is assertive for the style, featuring spicy pine and subtle grapefruit. Bitterness is moderate but firm, effectively balancing the malt density. The finish is well-attenuated and clean, with a lingering harmony of toasted grain and hop resin.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. Alcohol presence is well-integrated, providing a light, gentle warmth without any harshness or fusel burn.
