En esta versión Cherry de la gran Duchesse de Bourgogne se le añaden 20 kg de cerezas frescas ácidas belgas, de la provincia Limburgo, por cada 100 litros de cerveza Duchesse de Bourgogne a las barricas, madurando durante 6 meses. Antes de embotellar mezclan cerveza de las barricas de 1 año y 2 años para conseguir un sabor más homogéneo. La Brouwerij Verhaeghe es una pequeña cervecería familiar en la provincia de Flandes Occidental (Bélgica), su historia se remonta a 1885 cuando se fundó como una cervecería-malterie por Paul Verhaeghe. La mayoría de las cervecerías belgas de esta época organizaron sus ventas en las inmediaciones de la fábrica pero, a través de una línea ferroviaria que une Vichte con Bruselas, Verhaeghe pudo vender una parte importante de su producción en el mercado de Bruselas. Después de cuatro años de inactividad debido a la I Guerra Mundial, la fábrica perdió todos sus clientes en Bruselas, lo que supuso tener que crear un equipo de producción completamente nuevo para intentar recuperar los años perdidos. En el período de posguerra, la cervecería se mantuvo unida a nivel regional y se adaptó a las nuevas tendencias del mercado, dando lugar a su primera cerveza de baja fermentación mientras mejoraba la calidad de las ya existentes ales. Actualmente, no solo en Bélgica, sino también fuera de sus fronteras, la demanda aumenta en lo que respecta a cervezas de alta calidad con una identidad única, y este es el claro ejemplo de Verhaeghe. Smaak Dit bier is een mengeling van 1 en 2 jaar oude Duchesse de Bourgogne waar Limburgse, zure kersen aan werden toegevoegd. De basis van dit bier is dus niet, zoals meestal wel het geval is, een lambiek.

Door het gebruiken van hele kersen in plaats van kersensiroop krijg je een intense, oprechte kersensmaak. Het brouwsel rijpt daarna verder op eiken vaten waarin Bordeaux-wijnen werden bewaard.

De combinatie van de kersen en de tannines van de vaten zorgen voor een verfrissende, fruitige en bitterzoete smaak. "Duchesse Cherry" is, as the name suggests, a cherry beer.

Only brewed with real Belgian cherries (no flavor enhancers or cherry extracts). The fruit comes from the Sint-Truiden region in Limburg (Belgium).

In contrast to the more famous Kriek beers, the basic beer of the "Duchess Cherry" is not a Lambic, but a red-brown from West Flanders of mixed fermentation. This beer has a top fermentation base and is then aged in oak barrels where it undergoes a second wild fermentation.

The tannins in the foeders (large oak barrel in which great Bordeaux wines are kept) give the Duchesse Cherry its sweet, fruity, refreshing and bittersweet taste.

When the basic beer is ready, the brewer adds 20 kg of "Kriek Gorsem" (Belgian sour cherries) per 100 liters to the beer. The beer macerates with the cherries for 6 months. The cherries give a fresh and fruity taste to the beer with a sweet and sour base. After 24 months of processing, the beer is ready.

Prodotta solo con vere ciliegie belghe (senza esaltatori di sapidità o estratti di ciliegia), il frutto proviene dalla regione di Sint-Truiden nel Limburgo. A differenza delle più famose birre Kriek, la birra base della Duchesse Cherry non è un Lambic ma una birra a fermentazione mista. “Chocolate Duchesse Cherry” es una refrescante cerveza de cereza madurada en barricas de roble con la adición de 200 gramos por litro de cerezas exclusivamente enteras y aroma natural a chocolate.

Su color es burdeos, teñido de rubí. espuma fluida de grano fino, aromas de barrica, cereza, vainilla y algo de chocolate.

En boca es algo ácida y astringente, suave dulce de cereza y aromas de cacao.

Cerveza flamenca de fermentación mixta. Envejecida en barrica, y con un toque de cereza. Elaborada únicamente con cerezas belgas auténticas (sin potenciadores del sabor ni extractos de cereza). La fruta proviene de la región de Sint-Truiden en Limburgo (Bélgica). A diferencia de las cervezas Kriek más famosas, la cerveza básica de la «Duchess Cherry» no es una Lambic, sino una marrón rojiza de Flandes Occidental de fermentación mixta.

Maridaje: para acompañar carnes rojas, quesos de Roquefort y Camembert. Y también a los postres y con repostería, especialmente la elaborada con chocolate o con fruta.

Curiosidad: esta cerveza tiene una base de fermentación superior y luego se envejece en barricas de roble donde se somete a una segunda fermentación espontánea. Los taninos de los foeders (gran barrica de roble en la que se guardan los grandes vinos de Burdeos) dan a la cereza Duchesse su sabor dulce, afrutado, refrescante y agridulce. Cuando la cerveza básica está lista, el cervecero agrega 20 kg de «Kriek Gorsem» (guindas belgas) por cada 100 litros a la cerveza. La cerveza macera con las cerezas durante 6 meses. Las cerezas dan un sabor fresco y afrutado a la cerveza con una base agridulce. Después de 24 meses de elaboración, la cerveza está lista.

Duchesse Cherry es una cerveza elaborada por Brouwerij Verhaghe. Se trata de un blend de Duchesse de Bourgogne de 1 y 2 años al que se le añaden cerezas locales maduras de la región belga de Limburgo. Posteriormente, la cerveza se envejece en barricas de roble.

NOTA DE CATA: Color granate muy oscuro, aspecto velado y capa de espuma rosa, suave y esponjosa. Aromas ácidos, a frutos rojos y con un trasfondo dulce. En boca es deliciosa, con un buen balance entre acidez y dulzor, con toques a madera, taninos, frutas rojas maduras...

INGREDIENTES: Agua, malta de cebada , cerezas, azúcar, lúpulo y levadura.
