This massive Belgian Golden Strong Ale underwent eleven months of maturation in bourbon barrels from Het Anker, resulting in an intense sensory experience. Despite its staggering 15.3% ABV, the profile remains remarkably smooth, layering rich notes of vanilla and toasted caramel over a bright, gold base. The signature Belgian yeast character provides a foundation of ripe pear and subtle peppery spice, which harmonizes with the deep oak and spirituous warmth of the bourbon. While the original style is known for its effervescence and dry finish, this barrel-aged iteration offers a more luxurious, lingering presence while maintaining the sophisticated complexity of its pome fruit esters and herbal hop undertones.

Appearance. Deep gold to light amber (SRM 6-9). Clear to brilliant clarity. A thin, off-white head with low retention due to the exceptionally high alcohol content, leaving sparse lacing.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominant aromas of sweet bourbon, vanilla, and oak-char. These are balanced by moderate fruity esters of pear and apple. Low floral hop notes and a significant, yet perfumy, alcohol presence. A hint of grainy-sweet malt is buried beneath the barrel character.

Taste. The initial palate is dominated by bourbon-soaked vanilla and buttery caramel. Mid-palate reveals spicy, peppery alcohol and pear esters. Moderate bitterness provides structure against the high gravity. The finish is surprisingly dry for the ABV, though it leaves a long, warming aftertaste of oak and spirit.
