Monks Cafe Vlaams Rood Bruin | ABV: 5.5% | Vol. 75 cl Monk’s Café, een fris en mildzuur oud bruin. Toen Jan Baptist De Bruyne in 1784 de landbouwactiviteiten uitbreidde met het brouwen van bier, werd Brouwerij Van Steenberge boven de doopvont gehouden. Het eerste bier ontwikkeld door Jan Baptist was een oud-bruin, opgeslagen op eikenhouten vaten en verdeeld in de lokale, eigen cafés. De brouwerij kreeg hier de naam ‘De Peer’ door het typische fruitaroma in de bieren. Later volgde hier de logische stap naar pilsbieren onder invloed van de ‘lager beers’ in de wereldoorlogen, maar Brouwerij Van Steenberge blinkt de laatste decennia pas echt uit in de speciaalbieren.
