This Belgian Golden Strong Ale offers a deceptive elegance despite its bold 9.5% ABV strength. Brimming with effervescence, the sensory profile opens with a sophisticated bouquet of ripe pear and floral esters, underpinned by a whisper of peppery phenols. The use of Pilsner malt provides a lean, slightly grainy foundation that allows the spicy Continental hops to shine without being overshadowed. On the palate, a delicate initial sweetness rapidly yields to a crisp, bone-dry finish. This sparkling character is driven by high carbonation, which accentuates the hop bitterness and ensures the substantial alcohol remains smoothly integrated and refined.
Appearance. Deep yellow to pale gold (4-5 SRM). Brilliant clarity with an effervescent, rising bubble stream. Features a massive, long-lasting, rocky white head that leaves characteristic Belgian lace on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Sophisticated fruity esters of pear and apple are dominant. Low to moderate spicy and herbal hop character. Very low grainy-sweet malt presence. Subtle, peppery alcohol and perfume-like phenols add complexity.
Taste. Follows the aroma with prominent pear-like esters and soft malt flavors. High bitterness is accentuated by the dry finish. Herbal hop flavors and peppery alcohol carry through the palate. The finish is remarkably dry and crisp with a lingering, spicy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Light to medium-light body, appearing lighter than its gravity would suggest. Very high carbonation creating a prickly, effervescent mouthfeel. Smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth that is well-integrated and lacks any solvent harshness.

De passie is geboren, vanaf 2015 brouwt Brouwerij Rufus uit Heeze zijn eigen bier. We zijn nu een paar jaar verder en er zijn al een aantal mooi bieren uit de ketels gekomen. Immers na de introductie van de Macker, een krachtig amber bier, de Prufus een heerlijk fris blond bier, de Knoet, een werkelijk heerlijke dubbele donker en onze uitmuntende Tripel 'Tism, heeft inmiddels ook de Kwart, een straffe Quadrupel, het levenslicht gezien, en 2020 werd gekenmerkt door onze heerlijk witte Witte'wel In 2021 is de Kwart ook in een “cognac infused” versie gebrouwen De productontwikkeling van dit heerlijke bier gebeurt allemaal in Heeze.. Daarna wordt het, door Brouwerij Rufus zelf, gebrouwen in de ketels bij "De 3Horne" in Kaatsheuvel. Doordat "bier en kaas" zo'n prachtige combinatie is, hebben wij ook onze eigen bierkaas en venkelkaas. Prufus één van onze Brabantse bieren, de Macker, de Knoet, de Kwart. En ontdek 'Tism echt!
