This Imperial Smoked IPA offers a unique sensory journey, blending the intensity of a Double IPA with the artisanal craft of smoked hops. The Loral hops contribute a distinctive foundation of delicate floral notes and herbal spice, which are transformed by a mesmerising smoking process. These Loral additions release woody aromas and a subtle campfire wisp that threads through the resinous hop character. At 8% ABV, the beer maintains a lean malt profile, allowing the interaction between the clean bitterness and the savory smoke to take center stage. It is a bold, experimental take on the style that balances power with aromatic complexity.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper (8-12 SRM) with a slight haze from significant hopping. A persistent, off-white, creamy head leaves moderate lacing as it recedes.
Aroma. Intense hop presence leads with floral and herbal Loral characteristics, followed by distinct notes of woodsmoke and cedar. A clean, neutral malt base provides a grainy backdrop, while a hint of clean alcohol and very light citrus esters emerge as it warms.
Taste. Initial hop-forward punch of floral and peppery spice from the Loral hops, integrated with a savory, woody smoke flavor. Bitterness is high but smooth, supported by a lean, bready malt backbone. The finish is dry and clean with a lingering interplay of resinous hops and campfire smoke.
