This Maternus Premium Pilsener presents as a quintessential German Pils, offering a focused and refreshing sensory experience. It opens with a bright, herbal and spicy hop bouquet, underpinned by the delicate, doughy sweetness of Continental Pilsner malt. The palate follows suit, showcasing a crisp, clean profile where a refined bitterness rises to meet the grainy malt backbone, culminating in a dry, flinty finish. Appearance. Brilliant straw to light gold (3 SRM) with a tall, creamy white head featuring excellent retention and fine-beaded lacing.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity of floral and herbal noble hops. Supported by a low, grainy-sweet malt presence reminiscent of fresh crackers or light honey. Exceptionally clean lager fermentation profile with no esters or diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impressions of doughy, sweet malt are rapidly overtaken by a firm, spicy hop bitterness. Flavors of dried herbs and a touch of floral honey lead into a very dry, crisp finish. Bitterness is clean and lingers pleasantly in the aftertaste without becoming harsh or astringent.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a crisp, snappy texture. High carbonation provides a lively, refreshing prickle on the tongue. No perceived alcohol warmth and a subtle minerally sharpness that enhances the dry, attenuated finish.
