This elevated Belgian Dark Strong Ale presents a masterful fusion of Maallust’s signature 1818 Quadrupel and a decade-old Alambik distillate. The sensory profile is profoundly intense, radiating deep aromas of sun-dried figs, dates, and dark caramel, further enriched by sophisticated oak-driven vanilla and toasted wood from the ten-year barrel aging. On the palate, the marriage of rich bready malts and complex esters is amplified by a refined spirituous warmth. It is exceptionally smooth and harmonious, offering a lingering, vinous finish where the noble malt character meets a subtle, spicy tannic structure from the wood and the concentrated spirit infusion.

Appearance. Deep coppery-brown with garnet highlights (18-22 SRM). Huge, dense, and persistent light tan-colored head with creamy lacing; liquid clarity is clear to brilliant.

Aroma. High intensity; complex mix of rich, bready-toasty malt and dark caramel. Prominent esters of raisins, plums, and dried cherries are balanced by spicy phenols of black pepper and oak-derived vanilla. A refined, perfumy alcohol presence from the Alambik distillate is noticeable and well-integrated.

Taste. Initial rich maltiness featuring toasted bread and caramelized sugar. Flavors of dried figs and prunes are layered with oak tannins and a touch of wood smoke. Low to medium-low bitterness provides balance without overtaking the malt. The finish is moderately dry with a lingering, warming, and smooth spirituous aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, velvet-like texture. Moderate to high carbonation provides a necessary lift to the palate. Significant but smooth alcohol warmth that is never solvent-like.
