Inspired by the "Emperor" Rik Van Looy, this Belgian Golden Strong Ale presents a sophisticated sensory profile marked by a brilliant gold hue and effervescent character. The aroma is a complex bouquet of pear and pome fruit esters, layered with the distinct floral and herbal signatures of Belgian-grown Fuggles and Target hops. On the palate, a crisp, peppery spiciness emerges, cutting through a subtle pilsner malt base. The beer is highly attenuated, leading to a bone-dry finish where a refreshing, firm bitterness lingers. Its nimble, light body and prickly carbonation mask the 7.2% strength with remarkable elegance.

Appearance. Deep yellow to pale gold (5 SRM). Features a massive, long-lasting, rocky white head with excellent lacing. Brilliant clarity with fine, steady carbonation.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity featuring fruity esters of pear and apple. Distinctive herbal and floral hop notes from Fuggles and Target are present. Low peppery phenols and a nearly neutral, slightly grainy-sweet malt backdrop. Clean fermentation with soft, perfumy alcohol.

Taste. Initial flavors of light, grainy pilsner malt quickly give way to pear-like fruitiness and spicy, herbal hop notes. Medium-high bitterness is prominent, accentuated by high carbonation and a lack of residual sugar. A noticeable peppery phenol character develops mid-palate, leading into a long, dry, and clean finish with a lingering floral aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body that feels lighter due to high attenuation. Very high carbonation; effervescent and prickly on the tongue. Smooth, well-integrated alcohol warmth without any solvent or fusel harshness.
