Selfcare Batch #2 presents as a bold Double IPA, showcasing an intense hop profile characterized by bright citrus zest and tropical fruit notes. At 8.5% alcohol by volume, it carries a smooth, well-integrated warmth that supports a lean, grainy-sweet malt foundation. The sensory journey begins with punchy aromas of resinous pine and grapefruit, leading into a palate defined by high bitterness that remains clean and devoid of harshness. A crisp, dry finish ensures high drinkability despite its strength, leaving a lingering trail of floral and stone fruit hop oils. This expression balances power with precision, capturing the quintessential spirit of a modern strong ale.

Appearance. Gold to a light orange-copper in color (approx. 8–10 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent white head that leaves significant lacing. Clarity is good, showing only a very slight, acceptable haze.

Aroma. Intensity is high, dominated by a complex hop bouquet of grapefruit, mango, and resinous pine. A supportive, neutral to slightly grainy-sweet maltiness sits in the background. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters and a soft, smooth alcohol presence.

Taste. Initial impression is a massive wave of hop flavor mirroring the aroma’s citrus and tropical fruit character. Bitterness is high but clean and well-structured, not harsh. The malt character is low and unobtrusive, providing a soft bready foundation that leads into a medium-dry, crisp finish. The aftertaste is long and hoppy with a lingering resinous bitterness.

Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a smooth, almost creamy texture and medium-high carbonation. A restrained and pleasant alcohol warmth is present but never solventy. Free from hop-derived astringency.

De body is zacht en hij is niet te zoet, hij heeft een hopbitter. Dat maakt al met al dat dit echt een fantastische NEIPA is!
