Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40 SRM). Pours with a dense, dark tan head showing moderate retention; high viscosity and alcohol content are visible as thick legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity featuring a rich blend of bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, and charred grain. Strong bourbon-derived notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and caramel dominate, supported by moderate dark fruit esters reminiscent of black currants and raisins.
Taste. Intense initial impression of dark cocoa and espresso. The flavor profile is a complex mix of roasted malt and bourbon barrel influence, highlighting vanillin and spicy oak. Medium-high bitterness provides balance against the malt sweetness, leading to a long, warming finish with lingering notes of toasted wood and dried plums.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant but smooth alcohol warmth is present throughout the palate, enhancing the richness without becoming sharp.
