Brouwerij Frontaal

This Double IPA, a collaboration between Frontaal and Amundsen, delivers an intense sensory experience defined by vibrant New World hop character. The profile is led by punchy aromas of tropical mango and citrus zest, which seamlessly transition into the flavor profile alongside a firm but smooth bitterness. A clean, neutral malt backbone provides necessary support without adding heavy sweetness, ensuring the hop expression remains the focus. At 8.7% ABV, the alcohol is expertly integrated, offering a gentle warmth that complements the medium-dry finish. It is a bold, expressive ale that balances high hop saturation with clean drinkability.

Appearance. Deep gold to light copper color (SRM 8-10) with a slight haze. Topped by a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing.

Aroma. Intensity is high, featuring a prominent hop character of passion fruit, mango, and grapefruit pith. A supportive, clean, neutral-to-grainy maltiness sits in the background, accompanied by low fruity esters and a restrained hint of smooth alcohol.

Taste. Initial impression is a burst of citrus and tropical hop flavors. High bitterness follows but remains clean and smooth without harshness. The malt provides a soft, unobtrusive crackery base. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, bitter, and hoppy aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate to high. Contains a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth that is well-integrated with the hop bitterness, lacking any astringency.
