Brouwerij Frontaal Event Horizon is a luxurious Imperial Stout that envelops the senses in a decadent tapestry of rich mocha and toasted hazelnuts. This pastry stout pours jet-black, immediately releasing intense aromas of fresh-brewed espresso, sweet milk chocolate, and roasted hazelnut spread. The palate is treated to a dense wave of dark chocolate, sweet nutty layers, and a delicate vanilla undertone, all balanced by a subtle roasted malt bitterness. At ten percent alcohol by volume, a comforting, smooth warmth develops, carrying the sweet mocha and hazelnut flavors through a velvety, dessert-like finish that lingers beautifully on the tongue.
Appearance. Opaque jet black in color (SRM 40). Pours with a thick, dense, dark brown head showing moderate retention and leaving persistent lacing, accompanied by visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Prominent roasted coffee and rich cocoa aromas merge with sweet, toasted hazelnut and vanilla pastry notes. Underlying dark caramel malt and very low dark fruit esters (raisin, prune) are supported by a clean fermentation profile and a smooth, sweet alcohol presence.
Taste. Delectable and sweet initial impression, dominant in milk chocolate, espresso, and sweet hazelnut paste. Supported by toasted malt and light caramel flavors. A medium-low roasted bitterness balances the rich sweetness to prevent cloying. The finish is moderately sweet and smooth, with lingering mocha, hazelnut, and gentle alcohol warmth.
Mouthfeel. Full-bodied, thick, chewy, and velvety in texture. Low carbonation. A smooth, noticeable alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated, contributing to a rich and coating mouthfeel without harsh astringency.
