Berry Black is a decadent and robust American Porter that pushes the boundaries of the style with its 10% ABV. The sensory journey begins with a striking aroma of fresh raspberries interlaced with deep roasted coffee and dark chocolate. On the palate, the tartness of the raspberries provides a vibrant counterpoint to the rich, malty layers of caramel and distinctive licorice notes. The roast character is assertive but smooth, leading into a complex finish where fruit acidity meets a lingering, bittersweet coffee essence. Appearance. Opaque, deep ebony with shimmering ruby highlights when held to the light. Crowned by a dense, creamy, tan-colored head that exhibits excellent retention and leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of freshly picked raspberries and dark-roasted coffee beans. Underlying notes of bittersweet chocolate, black licorice, and burnt sugar caramel provide a sweet foundation. Low earthy hop character is present, alongside moderate fruity esters that complement the berry addition.
Taste. A bold, moderately strong roasted flavor profile featuring espresso and cocoa powder.
