This mahogany-hued English Barley Wine delivers a decadent sensory journey shaped by twelve months of barrel aging. The nose is greeted by an exquisite blend of rich, raisin-like sweetness from the Pedro Ximenez sherry wood, seamlessly intertwined with the refined, toasted oak and rounded malt characters of Glenrothes whiskey. On the palate, a thick, chewy body showcases layers of dark caramel and dried figs, balanced by a soft, comforting alcohol warmth that lingers long into a velvety finish. The complex interplay of vinous dark fruit and smooth scotch elements creates a comforting, sophisticated sipping experience of remarkable depth.

Appearance. Deep copper to dark brown (18-22 SRM) with brilliant clarity and rich ruby highlights. Crowned by a low, creamy, off-white head with brief retention, leaving light lacing and highly visible legs on the glass when swirled.

Aroma. High intensity. Intensely rich malt aroma of caramel, toffee, and toasted bread, layered with prominent dark fruit esters of raisin, fig, and prune. The barrel aging imparts deep, sweet notes of Pedro Ximenez sherry, vinous oak, and smooth Glenrothes whiskey with hints of vanilla. Hop aroma is very low, presenting only a faint earthy whisper.

Taste. Initial impression is rich and luxurious, dominated by sweet malt, dark caramel, and intense dark fruit like dates and figs. Strong, complex layers of sweet sherry and round, oaky whiskey flavors follow. Hop bitterness is low to moderate, just enough to prevent cloying sweetness. The finish and aftertaste are long, warming, moderately sweet, and vinous.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and exceptionally chewy with a velvety, luscious texture. Carbonation is low. A smooth, deep warmth from the 12% alcohol presence is highly noticeable, comforting and rounded without being hot or harsh.

Sensory Profile.
