This Specialty IPA presents a striking interplay between deep, roasted hues and vibrant hop character. Utilizing black malt and dark wheat, it achieves a dark brown to black appearance while maintaining a surprisingly agile body. The nose is greeted by a high intensity of resinous pine and citrus from the dry hop addition, supported by delicate undertones of dark chocolate and toasted wheat. On the palate, a firm bitterness cuts through a subtle caramel sweetness, leading to a crisp, dry finish. The roasted notes remain restrained and smooth, ensuring the hop-forward profile of a classic IPA remains the focal point without the acridity of a stout.

Appearance. Deep ebony to black (30-40 SRM) and opaque; topped with a persistent, creamy tan head that leaves moderate lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High hop intensity featuring notes of pine resin and zesty grapefruit. The malt presence is moderate-low, offering hints of unsweetened cocoa, light toast, and a clean fermentation profile with very low fruity esters.

Taste. Initial punch of citrusy hop flavor followed by a medium-high bitterness. The mid-palate reveals smooth dark wheat character and faint coffee notes without burnt or ashy harshness. Finishes very dry and clean with a lingering resinous aftertaste and a touch of roasted grain.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture from the wheat additions. Carbonation is moderate, providing a refreshing prickle. Very light alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated.
