A robust take on the Blonde Ale, this Borefts special displays an elevated strength that translates into a more pronounced sensory profile than a typical sessionable version. It leads with a clean, grainy malt backbone, reminiscent of fresh bread and light honey. Despite its 7.5% ABV, the character remains approachable, balanced by a gentle floral and spicy hop presence that offsets the initial sweetness. The fermentation is impeccably clean, allowing the interplay between the toasted malt character and the subtle fruity esters to shine through, finishing with a smooth, lingering warmth that reflects its Belgian-influenced craft origins.
Appearance. 3-6 SRM. Deep gold to light amber with brilliant clarity. Features a medium-sized, white, creamy head with moderate retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity with a dominant grainy, bready malt character. Low floral and spicy hop notes are present. Very clean fermentation profile with a barely perceptible hint of pear-like fruity esters; no diacetyl or DMS.
Taste. Initial soft maltiness with flavors of toasted bread and honey. Hop flavor is low to moderate with floral and earthy qualities. Bitterness is medium-low, providing just enough balance to prevent a cloying finish. The balance is slightly malt-forward, finishing medium-dry and clean with a faint touch of alcohol sweetness.
Mouthfeel. Medium body, feeling slightly fuller than typical for the style due to the higher ABV. Moderate to high carbonation provides a refreshing crispness. Smooth texture with a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and no astringency.
