De start van brouwerij Latte dateert uit 1818. In de tweede helft van de 19de eeuw werd het bedrijf ...geleid door Valère Latte. Die was niet alleen landbouwer en brouwer, maar daarbij ook nog eens gemeentesecretaris van Gavere. In 1898 verkocht de familie Latte de brouwerij aan René Contreras.
