Brouwerij Artemis Farmhouse Ale
This celebratory Saison presents a bright, modern twist on the classic farmhouse profile. Brewed with three varieties of citrus hops and homegrown red pepper, the sensory experience is led by a vibrant bouquet of lemon zest and grapefruit. A rustic, grainy malt backbone supports the assertive, fruity-spicy fermentation esters typical of the style. The finish is remarkably dry and effervescent, punctuated by a subtle, warming bite from the red pepper that complements the yeast’s natural peppery phenols. It is a refreshing, well-balanced ale that marries traditional Belgian yeast character with a bold, hop-forward greenhouse freshness and a clean, lingering bitterness.
Appearance. Luminous pale gold to light orange with a slight, hazy appearance; features a tall, dense, rocky white head with excellent persistence and intricate Belgian lace.
Aroma. High intensity aromatic profile blending citrusy hop notes of lemon and tangerine with spicy yeast esters. Moderate notes of black pepper and a hint of grainy, cracker-like malt. A subtle, fresh capsicum earthiness from the red pepper is detectable beneath the fruity layers.
Taste. A harmonious balance of spicy yeast and citrus hop flavor. Initial grainy malt sweetness quickly gives way to moderate-high bitterness and a complex interplay of pome fruit and citrus. The red pepper adds a unique, warming bite in the mid-palate without overwhelming the delicate esters. Finishes exceptionally dry with a lingering, spicy and bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with very high, effervescent carbonation that provides a prickly sensation. Notable but well-integrated alcohol warmth, enhanced by a faint, tingling warmth from the chili infusion.
