This vibrant Berliner Weisse captures a refreshing garden harvest, defined by a distinct kettle-souring process using local Maleny Dairies natural yoghurt as the culture. A delicate pink hue leads into a high-intensity bouquet of fresh-picked strawberries and a sharp, lactic tartness. The palate evolves from soft, doughy wheat malts into an assertive punch of stewed rhubarb, delivering a crisp acidity that cuts through the fruit’s natural essence. Despite the intense strawberry aromatics on the nose, the experience remains elegantly lean and highly effervescent, finishing bone-dry with a lingering, tangy rhubarb zing that invites another sip.
Appearance. Pours a delicate light pink to pale rose with a slight haze. It features a large, dense white head with a faint pink tint that has poor retention. Highly effervescent with visible rising bubbles.
Aroma. High intensity, dominated by a clean, sharp lactic sourness and bright, authentic strawberry aromatics. Secondary notes of tart rhubarb and a faint, raw bread dough wheat character are present. No hop aroma or yeast-derived funk.
Taste. Initial impression is a clean, sharp lactic sourness followed by a bready, grainy wheat flavor. Prominent strawberry notes are present without being sweet, transitioning into a puckering, tart rhubarb character. Hop bitterness is undetectable; acidity provides the primary balance. Finishes very dry and crisp with no lingering sugary residue.
Mouthfeel. Light body but never thin, with very high, prickly carbonation. No sensation of alcohol warmth is present. Characterized by a crisp, refreshing acidity.
