Potion #24 is a decadent Imperial Brown Ale that pushes the boundaries of the style through extensive barrel aging and unique botanicals. The pour reveals a deep, mahogany hue with a dense tan head. On the nose, intense aromas of toasted chocolate and rich caramel from the malt base intertwine with the floral elegance of Jasmine and Peony. Heaven Hill barrel aging contributes significant notes of oaky vanilla and spicy bourbon, while maple syrup adds a luscious, lingering sweetness. The palate is full-bodied and warming, balancing deep nutty malt complexity with a firm American hop bitterness and a complex, boozy finish.

Appearance. Very dark brown (approx. 35 SRM) with mahogany highlights. The liquid is opaque but clear at the edges. Features a low to moderate tan head with good retention and light lacing.

Aroma. High intensity. Rich malt character of chocolate, toasted nuts, and dark caramel. Infused with distinct floral notes of jasmine and peony. The Heaven Hill barrel influence is prominent, offering vanilla, charred oak, and spicy bourbon. A subtle, sugary maple sweetness underpins the aroma with low fruity esters.

Taste. Full-flavored initial impression of sweet maple and rich malt. Dominant flavors of chocolate, toffee, and toasted biscuit. The floral jasmine and peony provide a sophisticated, perfumed layer. Balanced by a medium-high bitterness that cuts through the 25 Plato density. The finish is long and warming, featuring lingering notes of vanilla, oak, and dark malt complexity.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and viscous with a velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate. Noticeable alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 10.1% ABV, but remains well-integrated without harshness. No significant astringency.
