BRLO’s Berliner Weisse pays homage to the “Champagne of the North” with a vibrant, effervescent profile that balances sharp acidity with classic grain character. Brilliantly pale straw in the glass, it opens with a bouquet of lemon zest and the distinctive tang of sourdough bread, driven by its traditional wheat and Pilsner malt base. The palate is defined by a clean, puckering lactic sourness that washes over the tongue, supported by light, doughy malt flavors and a hint of tart green apple. Its bone-dry finish and high carbonation make it exceptionally refreshing, mimicking the crispness of a fine sparkling wine or dry cider.

Appearance. Straw to very pale gold (2–3 SRM). Pours with a large, dense white head that exhibits poor retention, characteristic of the style. High effervescence with constant rising bubbles; clarity is mostly clear with a faint, elegant haze.

Aroma. Moderately high intensity characterized by sharp, clean lactic sourness. Prominent notes of lemon zest and fresh sourdough bread. Subtle secondary aromas of tart green apple and a light floral wheat quality; hop aroma is completely absent.

Taste. Initial impression is a brisk, puckering lactic acidity that dominates the profile. A light, doughy wheat and grainy malt flavor provides a delicate backbone. Bitterness is undetectable, allowing the sourness to provide the balance. Bright fruit flavors of lemon and tart apple lead to a bone-dry, crisp, and clean finish without any vinegary notes.

Mouthfeel. Light-bodied but maintains a pleasant presence on the palate without being thin or watery. Very high carbonation creates a sparkling, prickly sensation. Sharp, crisp acidity with no perceivable alcohol warmth.
