BRLO BERLIN TRIPEL
Belgian Tripel 10 º
This Belgian Tripel is a sophisticated "velvet hammer," transformed by 15 months of aging in Bordeaux, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon French oak barrels. The nose presents a seamless bouquet of peppery phenols and citrusy esters, layered with nuanced vinous notes of stone fruit and a hint of red berry. On the palate, a soft, grainy-sweet malt foundation supports complex spice and a firm bitterness. The oak maturation introduces a refined tannic structure and subtle vanilla, while the high 10% ABV remains deceptively smooth. It finishes exceptionally dry and effervescent, leaving a lingering impression of spicy yeast and elegant French oak.
Appearance. Deep gold with a slight amber hue (6 SRM). Displays excellent clarity and an effervescent rise of fine bubbles. Crowned by a long-lasting, creamy, rocky white head that leaves dense Belgian lace.
Aroma. High intensity and complex. Dominant spicy, peppery phenols and lemon-zest esters are complemented by sophisticated barrel-aged notes: subtle buttery Chardonnay, crisp Sauvignon herbal tones, and a faint red-fruit whisper from Bordeaux oak. Light, honey-like malt presence provides a soft backdrop.
Taste. Initial impression of rounded, grainy malt quickly yields to a wash of orange peel and clove-like spice. The barrel influence adds layers of dry oak tannin and a vinous complexity. Bitterness is moderate to firm, accentuating a very dry, crisp finish. Alcohol is well-integrated but lends a supportive spicy character.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a surprisingly light, airy texture for its strength. High carbonation provides a lively, scrubbing effervescence. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth; no harshness or astringency despite the extended French oak contact.
