Brix City Brewing Mango Jams
Mango Jams is a lush Double IPA that balances intense hop saturation with a decadent, creamy profile. Vivid aromas of ripe tropical fruit and zesty citrus emerge from the double dry-hopping of Citra and Mosaic, which are perfectly complemented by a rich addition of sweet mango puree. The inclusion of lactose and vanilla creates a silky, milkshake-like texture that rounds out the firm bitterness typical of the style. Expect a bold sensory experience where the bright, resinous character of the Citra and Mosaic hops meets a soft, confectionery sweetness, finishing with a smooth, lingering fruit-forward warmth and a full, velvety mouthfeel.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange-copper; hazy to opaque due to fruit puree and protein; moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity; prominent tropical notes of fresh mango and passion fruit alongside citrus grapefruit and orange from Citra and Mosaic hops. A sweet, creamy vanilla undertone persists over a neutral, grainy malt background.
Taste. Initial burst of ripe mango and tropical hop flavors. High hop bitterness is present but softened by the creamy lactose sweetness. Flavors of citrus peel and resinous pine from the Citra and Mosaic hops are balanced by a smooth vanilla finish. The malt is low and supportive, while the finish is medium-dry with a lingering fruit and hop resin aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a creamy, velvety texture from the lactose; moderate carbonation. A smooth, restrained alcohol warmth is present without being hot or solventy.
