Jock Jams is a contemporary Double IPA that balances high-intensity hopping with a bright, integrated citrus profile. Brewed with Cara Cara Oranges added to the boil, this hazy offering eschews lactose for a drier, more streamlined finish. The double dry-hop addition of Citra and Amarillo drives the aromatic experience, providing vivid layers of fresh naval oranges, lemon zest, and tangy passion fruit. On the palate, these citrus and tropical notes are joined by subtle stone fruit over a lean, neutral malt base. The result is an intensely flavorful but remarkably drinkable ale with a clean, hop-forward snap.
Appearance. Pours a hazy tangerine to deep gold color (7–8 SRM). Topped by a moderate-sized, persistent white head with good lacing.
Aroma. High-intensity aroma featuring prominent naval orange, lemon zest, and tangy passion fruit. A background of light stone fruit esters complements the hops. Malt character is low and neutral, presenting as a clean, grainy supportive note.
Taste. Initial impression is a punch of bright citrus and tropical fruit. Strong hop flavors of orange peel and passion fruit are supported by a low, clean malt character. Bitterness is moderately high but smooth, avoiding harshness. The finish is notably dry and clean with a lingering citrus and resinous hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a lively lift. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, without any harsh hop-derived astringency.
