Brique House Brewery FACE PLANT
Face Plant is a high-octane Double IPA that delivers a punch of sensory adrenaline. It opens with an intense, resinous hop profile dominated by grapefruit zest, crushed pine needles, and ripe mango. Despite its potent 9% ABV, the malt presence remains lean and supportive, offering just enough cracker-like graininess to balance the aggressive bitterness. The beer finishes remarkably dry, highlighting a lingering, pithy hop character that demands another sip. This is a bold, modern interpretation that emphasizes hop saturation and high drinkability, capturing an intense spirit without veering into heavy sweetness or syrupy weight.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper (7–10 SRM). Displays good clarity with a slight, modern haze. Crowned by a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma with dominant notes of resinous pine, citrus peel, and tropical fruit. Clean, neutral, grainy malt sits quietly in the background. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters and a hint of smooth alcohol warmth.
Taste. Strong and complex hop flavors of resin, grapefruit, and stone fruit lead into a moderately high to very high bitterness. The malt character is low, clean, and soft, providing a neutral base. Finishes dry to medium-dry with a lingering, clean, hoppy bitterness and a smooth alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is medium-high, contributing to a crisp delivery. A restrained, smooth alcohol warmth is present without being hot or solventy.
