The aroma is dominated by toasted malt and soft chocolate, seamlessly interwoven with the distinct, sweet fragrance of liquorice root. On the palate, the liquorice root remains clear yet gentle, complementing a rich profile of toffee and biscuit. This medium-bodied ale balances a subtle earthy hop character with a restrained roasty bitterness, leading to a smooth, rounded finish. Its drinkability is bolstered by a well-integrated malt sweetness that makes this well-balanced porter invitingly approachable.

Appearance. Deep brown with distinct ruby highlights when held to the light. It exhibits good clarity and is topped by a moderate, light tan head with fair to good retention and light lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Prominent bready and toasty malt notes are layered with hints of molasses and dark chocolate. The liquorice root provides a sweet, spicy aromatic edge that is well-integrated with subtle floral hop notes and light fruity esters.

Taste. Initial impressions of dark bread and biscuit transition into a complex mid-palate of molasses and mild chocolate roastiness.
