This Belgian Tripel presents a bold, complex sensory profile inspired by the coastal lighthouse of Haamstede. A seamless blend of peppery, clove-like yeast phenols and bright citrus esters is elevated by the addition of orange, providing a sweet, zesty aromatic lift. Pilsner malt offers a soft, honey-like foundation that remains secondary to the spicy fermentation character. Despite its substantial 9.3% ABV strength, the beer maintains a deceptive drinkability with a firm bitterness and an exceptionally dry, effervescent finish. The interplay of spicy Continental hops and lingering orange peel creates a sophisticated, multifaceted palate that hides its strength behind high carbonation.
Appearance. Deep yellow to pale amber (5-7 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Features a long-lasting, creamy, and rocky white head that leaves characteristic Belgian lace on the glass as it slowly fades.
Aroma. High intensity with a complex bouquet of peppery and clove-like phenols. Significant fruity esters reminiscent of orange and lemon. Low, perfumy alcohol notes and a soft, grainy-sweet malt back-end with a hint of floral hops.
Taste. Initial soft, grainy malt sweetness is quickly overtaken by moderate spicy phenols and citrusy esters. Distinctive orange flavor provides a fruity depth. High bitterness is accentuated by an extremely dry finish. The aftertaste is clean with lingering peppery yeast and orange zest.
