Mail Order Martian is an evocative Hazy IPA that leans into the ‘Oat Cream’ profile, delivering an interstellar sensory experience. The double dry-hopping process creates a massive fruit propellant, blasting the palate with distinctive notes of tart currant, mixed berries, tropical kiwi, and exotic lychee. The addition of milk sugar provides a rounded, creamy sweetness that balances the intense hop saturation, while a heavy addition of oats ensures a velvety, rocket-powered smoothness. Despite the lush, juicy fruit profile, it maintains its Hazy IPA identity with a well-timed, moderate bitterness that keeps the finish clean and highly drinkable.
Appearance. Color ranges from straw to light orange (4–6 SRM). It presents a characteristic opaque haze with a luminous quality. The beer supports a dense, meringue-like white head with high retention and thick, persistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet dominated by unconventional fruit notes: sharp red currant, ripe forest berries, and a tropical duo of kiwi and sweet lychee. A soft, bready malt background is present, enhanced by a subtle, creamy sweetness from milk sugar. Fermentation character is clean, allowing the complex hop esters to shine.
Taste. The initial impression is a burst of juicy fruit, mirroring the aroma with berries and tropical lychee. Malt flavor is low but supportive, tasting of soft dough and oats. Milk sugar adds a noticeable but integrated sweetness that rounds out the mid-palate. Bitterness is moderate, providing enough structure to balance the residual sugars without becoming sharp or harsh. The finish is soft, fruity, and slightly lingering.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably creamy, plush texture derived from the heavy use of oats and lactose. Carbonation is moderate. There is a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth consistent with its 7% ABV, and no perceived astringency or hop burn.
