BrewDog Elvis Juice
This Fruit Beer, built on an American IPA foundation, is a citrus-forward assault led by massive additions of grapefruit peel. The aroma is dominated by the pithy tartness of the fruit, seamlessly interwoven with the resinous pine and tropical notes of Citra, Mosaic, Amarillo, and Simcoe hops. A base of Extra Pale and Cara malts provides a light amber hue and a subtle caramel sweetness that balances the aggressive Magnum-driven bitterness. On the palate, the grapefruit remains the protagonist, supported by orange and floral cues, finishing with a lingering, crisp, and resinous bite characteristic of its hop-heavy pedigree.
Appearance. Light amber (SRM 8-10); persistent, off-white, creamy head with excellent retention and thick lacing; generally clear with a brilliant luster.
Aroma. High intensity grapefruit peel and tart pith; secondary notes of resinous pine, tropical mango, and bright orange from the hops. Low bready malt and caramel sweetness; clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial grapefruit explosion followed by a moderate malt spine of toasted bread and caramel. Assertive hop bitterness is balanced by fruit tartness. Complex flavors of pine, orange zest, and floral resins lead to a dry, lingering finish with a crisp, bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a creamy, smooth texture; moderate to high carbonation; very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth; low astringency despite the heavy use of citrus peel.
