Abstrakt AB:22 is a lavish, long-matured Imperial Stout that epitomizes sensory decadence after two years in Speyside whisky casks. This jet-black liquid releases an intense bouquet of cold-brew coffee and rich cacao, woven with the charred oak and vanilla pods characteristic of extended spirit barrel aging. The palate is a complex tapestry of chocolate ganache and fudge sundae, layered with molasses and chocolate-covered raisin notes. The Speyside influence introduces sophisticated nuances of toasted coconut and an espresso martini finish. Expect a velvety, full-bodied mouthfeel that carries the significant alcohol with elegant warmth, leaving a lingering impression of dark-roasted, barrel-matured indulgence.
Appearance. SRM 40+; jet black and completely opaque. It supports a deep tan, creamy head with moderate retention. High viscosity and alcohol content result in visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity; dominated by rich roasted malt, espresso, and bittersweet cocoa. Strong barrel-derived notes of vanilla, toasted coconut, and a distinct Speyside whisky character. Moderate esters suggest dark fruits like raisins and prunes.
Taste. Deeply sweet and roasty initial impression with prominent flavors of chocolate ganache, molasses, and fudge. The coffee provides an espresso-like bitterness that balances the high residual sugars. Significant oak and whisky flavors contribute vanilla and coconut.
