This formidable Double IPA delivers an intense sensory experience driven by a sophisticated hop profile. Initial notes of bright peach and nectarine from the Peacharine hops mingle with the punchy passionfruit and citrus character of Riwaka. Citra adds layers of grapefruit and lime, while Simcoe provides a grounding resinous pine and subtle earthy undertone. The malt is clean and supportive, allowing the complex hop oils to dominate. At 9.1% ABV, it carries a smooth, integrated warmth. The finish is dry and assertive, leaving a lingering, clean bitterness that defines this powerful, modern expression of a Double IPA.
Appearance. Ranges from gold to a light orange-copper with a moderate-sized, persistent white to off-white head. Good clarity is expected, though a slight hop haze may be present.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring prominent stone fruit, grapefruit, and tropical notes. Riwaka contributes a distinct passionfruit edge, while Simcoe adds a resinous pine complexity. Malt presence is very low and neutral, providing a clean backdrop without significant caramel or sweetness.
Taste. Bold hop flavors of citrus, peach, and pine lead into a moderately high bitterness that remains smooth rather than harsh. A neutral, grainy malt character supports the high hop load. The fermentation character is clean, finishing dry to medium-dry with a lingering aftertaste of tropical fruit and resin.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. A noticeable but well-restrained alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its high strength without being solventy.
