This Double IPA showcases a modern, vibrant profile driven by a sophisticated selection of Southern Hemisphere hops from Australia and New Zealand. It pours with a radiant golden glow, offering an intense aromatic bouquet of passion fruit, lychee, and zesty lime. The sensory experience is dominated by these tropical notes, supported by a clean, lean malt profile that allows the hop character to shine without interference. On the palate, a firm but smooth bitterness balances a subtle, grainy sweetness, leading to a crisp and dry finish. It exemplifies the style's potential for high drinkability despite its strength, delivering endless waves of exotic fruit flavors and a refreshing, refined bitterness.
Appearance. Deep gold to light orange (7-9 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head that leaves delicate lacing. Modern clarity is mostly clear with a very slight, soft haze.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent passion fruit, mango, and crushed lime notes from New Zealand and Australian hops. Malt is low and neutral, offering a light crackery scent in the background. Fermentation is very clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a massive burst of tropical fruit and lime zest. Malt flavor is low and unobtrusive, tasting of neutral pale grain. Hop bitterness is firm and moderately high, around 70 IBU, but remains smooth and non-astringent. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, clean hop bitterness and tropical fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a lively mouthfeel. A light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 7.7% ABV without being solventy.
