Twisted Transistor is an electric Wild Specialty Beer that masterfully fuses the punchy aromatics of a modern IPA with the crisp acidity of an American Wild Ale. The sensory experience is defined by the heavy use of cryo hops, which deliver a saturated, resinous explosion of tropical fruit, citrus, and stone fruit without the vegetal drag. A sharp, lemony tartness cuts through the juicy hop profile, creating a profile that is both refreshing and complex. The fermentation character is clean but assertive, allowing the bright hop oils to shine against a lean, cracker-like malt backdrop, finishing bone-dry and effervescent.
Appearance. Pours a hazy, pale straw to deep gold (3–6 SRM). It features a dense, frothy white head with moderate retention and significant lacing, reflecting its hop-forward construction.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of pineapple, passion fruit, and zesty grapefruit from the cryo hops. A distinct lactic sourness provides a bright, clean acidic note, complemented by subtle doughy malt and a faint, earthy wild yeast character.
Taste. A brisk, puckering tartness leads the palate, followed immediately by waves of mango, citrus peel, and resinous hop flavors. Bitterness is low to moderate (20–30 IBU context), as the acidity provides the primary structural balance. The finish is crisp, very dry, and remarkably clean with a lingering tropical fruit aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a prickly, high carbonation that accentuates the tartness. There is a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and a smooth, hop-oil silkiness without any harsh astringency.
