This decadent Imperial Stout, a collaboration with Nerdbrewing, presents a luxurious sensory experience inspired by a rum and raisin sundae. The profile opens with a deep, roasty foundation of dark chocolate and espresso, characteristic of its robust malt bill. This is immediately softened by a heavy-handed addition of lactose and vanilla, creating a creamy ice cream-like sweetness that coats the palate. A boozy infusion of rum adds a sophisticated, warming complexity, while concentrated notes of juicy raisins provide a dark fruit depth. The result is a bold, velvety-textured masterpiece that balances intense roasted bitterness with a lingering, dessert-like finish.

Appearance. SRM 40+. Jet black and completely opaque. Dense, deep tan head with moderate retention and sticky lacing; visible legs appear on the glass due to high alcohol and viscosity.

Aroma. High intensity. Rich roasted malt scents of dark chocolate, cocoa, and black licorice are complemented by a prominent creamy vanilla and sweet lactose presence. Moderate esters of raisins, prunes, and dark fruits blend with a distinct, clean rum-like alcohol warmth. Low hop aroma.

Taste. Intense and complex; initial impression of sweet vanilla cream and milk chocolate. Prominent roasted grain flavors of burnt coffee and licorice follow. Mid-palate features a concentrated raisin fruitiness and a spicy rum character. Medium-high bitterness is present but well-supported by a significant residual sweetness from the lactose. The finish is lingering and bittersweet with a notable alcohol warmth.

Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a chewy, viscous, and velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A significant, smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 12% ABV. Highly creamy with no perceived astringency.
