Brew York Little Eagle
Little Eagle is a defiant American IPA that punches well above its sessionable weight. Despite the modest alcohol content, a complex six malt combination provides a sturdy, toasted foundation that mimics the depth of much stronger ales. This rich base supports a vibrant, multi-layered hop profile derived from five New World varieties, bursting with intense notes of resinous pine, zesty grapefruit, and ripe tropical stone fruit. The result is a remarkably full-bodied and flavorful experience that maintains a clean fermentation profile and a sharp, refreshing bitterness, living up to the character of its heavyweight peers while remaining exceptionally approachable.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber in color (8–12 SRM). Displays a medium-sized, off-white head with excellent persistence and significant lacing. Clarity is generally clear with only a very slight hop haze permissible.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring a complex blend of New World characteristics including mango, passionfruit, and bright citrus zest. A supportive, low to medium-low malt presence offers hints of toasted bread and light caramel. Fermentation is clean with no significant esters.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward, delivering layers of tropical fruit, resinous pine, and grapefruit. A firm, medium-high bitterness provides structure without being harsh. The six malt combination provides a medium-low grainy and lightly toasted malt flavor that balances the hops. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering, clean, hoppy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a surprisingly smooth, round texture for its ABV. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a crisp bite. Alcohol warmth is very low and well-integrated, with no astringency from the high hop loading.
