Grizzly is a balanced American Brown Ale that bridges the gap between classic malt complexity and contemporary hop vibrancy. A foundation of toasted nuts and milk chocolate supports an assertive hop profile. The use of Columbus provides an earthy base, while Centennial and Cascade contribute bright notes of grapefruit and floral blossoms. Simcoe adds a distinctive layer of pine and passionfruit, which melds seamlessly with the tropical coconut and cedar-like nuances of Sabro and HBC 472. This collaboration with Vocation delivers a medium-bodied experience where the rich, caramel malt backbone is enlivened by a modern, fruity hop bitterness, finishing crisp yet complex.

Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark brown (25–30 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderate, creamy, light tan head that exhibits good retention and leaves delicate lacing on the glass.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity with a complex interplay of malt and hops. Rich toasted bread, caramel, and milk chocolate malt notes are prominent. The hop character is assertive for the style, featuring layers of citrus, pine, and distinct tropical fruit with woody, coconut-like undertones. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.

Taste. Initial impression is malty-rich, showcasing chocolate, caramel, and a hint of nutty sweetness. This is immediately balanced by a medium-high bitterness and a vibrant hop flavor profile of grapefruit, resinous pine, and tropical fruit. The finish is medium-dry, leaving a lingering aftertaste of toasted grain and hop oils. Bitterness is firm but not harsh, keeping the sweet malt character in check.

Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to high, providing a crispness that cleanses the palate. No perceptible alcohol warmth given the 4.9% ABV, and zero astringency despite the dark malt and high hop load.
