Surikato is a vibrant Hazy IPA that marries the lush, tropical intensity of modern hops with a unique, subtle infusion of pomegranate. Poured with a signature opacity, it delivers a high-intensity bouquet of stone fruit and citrus, accented by a delicate, red-fruit tartness from the pomegranate addition. On the palate, the experience is profoundly silky and full-bodied, showcasing a juicy hop profile that leads with pineapple and mango notes. The pomegranate provides a nuanced, crisp layer that balances the soft, grainy malt backbone. With a restrained bitterness and a smooth, off-dry finish, it exemplifies the approachable, fruit-forward nature of the New England style.
Appearance. SRM 4-6. Hazy to opaque pale gold with a soft orange hue. Topped with a persistent, dense, meringue-like white head that exhibits high retention and leaves thick lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring notes of tropical fruit, citrus, and stone fruit. A subtle, clean tartness from the pomegranate is evident, weaving into the hop profile. The malt is low and neutral, presenting as lightly bready or grainy. No diacetyl or DMS present.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical hop flavors including mango and citrus. The pomegranate adds a supportive, lightly acidic fruit character that enhances the complexity. Low to medium-low bitterness provides a gentle counterpoint to the soft malt. Finish is smooth and off-dry with a lingering fruity aftertaste devoid of harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a characteristic silky and soft texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle lift. Very low alcohol warmth is appropriate for the strength. Completely free of astringency or a raw starch mouthfeel.
