Fall Xplosion is a masterfully balanced Black IPA that bridges the gap between dark roasted grains and vibrant hop character. The sensory experience is led by a complex bouquet of Citra and Amarillo hops, delivering layers of bright citrus and stone fruit that meld into a background of smooth, toasted chocolate. On the palate, the roasted malts are restrained and integrated, providing a subtle coffee-like depth without harshness or ash. Appearance. Dark brown to nearly opaque black (SRM 35-38) with excellent clarity where light permits. Features a large, tan, persistent head with dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by grapefruit, lemon, and tropical notes from Citra, paired with floral and peach accents from Amarillo. Supported by moderate notes of dark toast and light chocolate with no perceptible esters.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impact of citrus zest and stone fruit. Malt flavor is low to medium, offering restrained notes of coffee and unsweetened cocoa without burnt edges. Bitterness is firm and present but rounded and well-integrated. Finishes dry and clean with a lingering hop resin and light toast aftertaste.
